A few weeks back I saw an obscure little post on Ravelry.com about Knit Picks starting an Independent Designer Program (IDP) and sent Stacey an email for some more information.
She immediately got back to me (wow, what great customer service!) and I decided to submit a cap pattern that I’ve already experiemented with for the Knit Picks’ team review.
Within only a couple of days I received the green light and the yarn was on its way. Joohoo!
The yarn was Swish Worsted, a 100% Superwash Merino Wool (110 yds/50g ball) thinner worsted weight yarn. Very soft to the touch and it’s a pleasure to knit with. I can highly recommend it.
The pattern knit up beautifully and the math worked out just right for 3 sizes: M [L, XL] = 18″ [20″, 22″]. Then came pattern writing and tech editing, photo shoot (thank you Sam for modelling!) and mailing everything off to Knit Picks.
It seems my timing was perfect as Knit Picks was going to launch a marketing effort to popularize the IDP program and my pattern was up and ready to go at the beginning of January. Wow! What a quick turn over and such great designer support by Stacy.
Thank you and now go and knit the Downhill Skier Cap.
